As I promised earlier this week with the article about BMW’s new and revolutionary motorcycle helmet, BMW Blog would be covering more news and features about BMW motorcycles. After all, they deserve a lot of respect, as do their riders. To see the Motorrad news, just click the Motorrad category icon on the right there –>.
Today I went and hung out at a BMW motorcycle shop in my area and learned a lot about the guys that are dedicated to BMW bikes. I also learned that BMW Motorcycles only make up roughly 1% of all motorcycles in the U.S. Even Triumph accounts for more bikes (just below 3%).
Still, though, it takes a dedicated person to ride a BMW just like us BMW car drivers. We love our Bimmers, and talking with the riders today, I’d say they have us beat for dedication, believe it or not.
Hello again,
after some pictures of the architecture of the BMW Welt it is time to show you some of the cars you can see in the BMW Welt. After this there will be another story with pictures from the BMW Museum, but this will take some time since I took so many pictures there of so many different cars, all deserving to be published here…
A 135i Coupé to start with, standing within the double-cone and very nice to look at in that colour.
In a Board of Directors meeting today, the BMW CEO, Norbert Reithofer, announced some of the german automaker’s plan for the future.
The so rumored BMW X7 project, announced a while ago by the friends at Worldcarfans, has been canceled. We had an article on the X7, back in June, and we confirmed with our sources at that time, that there will be no BMW X7 whatsoever.
As expected, BMW is definitely going to launch the X6 Hybrid along with the new 2009 BMW 7 Series Hybrid version. The 7 Hybrid will make its debut in the second half of 2009.
There is also confirmation that a four door GT model will make its way into the market as well, but we have no information on when they plan to release it.
On a different note, the rumored MINI SAV and a new Phantom Rolls-Royce mode are coming as well.
Most of these information have been confirmed already with our sources, but we would like to thank one of the moderators from Germancarzone for sharing, openly with everyone, more extensive details.
Hello guys,
as you might know, I am currently in Munich, and obviously I took the time to visit the BMW Welt and the BMW Museum. Thinking of you I took tons of pictures and of course you get only the best of them. They are all available in high resolution and if you need one or more of them in the original resolution feel free to write that in the comments, I will mail you the original as soon as possible. I will start in this article with the architecture of the BMW Welt and there will be articles of the cars in the BMW Welt and in the BMW Museum as well in the future. But now, finally, I begin with the picture. Enjoy!

Just a BMW Z4 Rendering
Word just came down from Munich: the new 2009 BMW Z4, stage name E89, will make its official debut in November. The marketing materials are in works now and the official videos are waiting to be filmed very soon.
We weren’t told if there will be any event revolving around the launch of the new Z4, but we wouldn’t surprised if BMW will pull something off like they did in Moscow, with the new 7 Series, but this time, probably in a warmer location.
So, stay tuned, as soon as we will hear something new, you will be the first to know.
Sorry ladies and gentlemen, we were “sick” today for a few hours and we weren’t able to feed your bimmer needs. But we’re back now and we’re ready to move onto bigger things. By Saturday, we will be running on a more performant server, so you should see a 40% increase in the surfing experience or pictures viewing.
Thank you for keep checking with us and for the tons of emails we received asking us if we’re “ok”.
In the mean time, check out the BMW X4 article, that was our latest and most important piece of information before we got “sick”.

From Auto Zeitung
Thanks to our friend Palybay, who sent us the tip yesterday, we’re able to bring you the news that BMW will built a fourth X model, named X4 SAS, short Sports Activity Sedan. The BMW X4 will be based on the X3 model and it will be exclusively build at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.
According to BMW inside sources, the BMW X4 SAS is in fact a four door off-road sedan, placed somewhere in the crossover market. In my opinion, the way I see the X4 will be as a combination between the 335i or any 3 series sedan and the X3.
Would this model be successful? It could be, if marketed towards the right crowd.
Here are some articles on the X4, when all it was a simply rumor.
Just a few weeks ago, we reported that BMW will partner up with Fiat and work together on developing a common platform for future models.
The fellows at Auto Express are reporting that BMW and Fiat will join their forces in making their Isetta and Topolino models, some of the most economical cars when it comes to fuel consumption. The goal: somewhere around the 100MPG mark.
BMW’s efforts in creating an extremely eco-friendly and economical car, derive from the need to comply with the European Commission’s plans to impose an average 120g/km limit on the model ranges of all firms selling cars across the Continent by 2012. Also, by 2010, BMW needs to align with the upcoming California’s law that forces the car automaker to develop a zero-emissions vehicle.
BMW has released its new and ultra-lightweight crash helmet for their sport bike riders. The helmet has been tested and proven to be one of the quietest, lightest and best aerodynamic helmets in the business. BMW tested this by using their own Formula 1 wind tunnel.
The new BMW crash test helmet has been manufactured with vents to increase and maximize quality air flow to all over the head. This is of course very important from racers and riders of all kinds. The helmet only weighs 3lbs. 3 POUNDS!!! That’s pretty light. That is thanks to its fiberglass outer body shell. Read the rest of this entry »
BMW-Sauber has been testing, as have all of the other F1 teams, a new transmission that regenerates energy that is dispersed. This helps lower emissions of the Formula 1 racecars, and helps to promote more cost effective F1 cars.
This system is known as KERS, or Kinetic Energy Recovery System. I won’t even go into how the hell it works, because I will just get way too technical… But let’s just say the system isn’t working the way everyone had hoped. It is taking too much effort and time to try and get the system right and not make it kill the crew.
BMW-Sauber had a mishap at their last test at the Spanish Jerez Circuit with Christian Klien test driving. The car returns to the pits after the test run. One mechanic reaches out to touch the car and is shocked to the ground from the KERS.
Here is what BMW-Sauber had to say about the incident, “During testing of the KERS car at the Jerez track this morning, there was an incident involving a mechanic. When the car returned to the pits, he touched it and suffered an electric shock. He sustained slight injuries to his left hand and grazing on his left arm.”
Sounds like there is a lot of work to be done. And this system is supposed to be in every F1 racer for the 2009 season. Hmm…

It has been confirmed what we said back in June, that the all new innovative BMW PAS, short for Progressive Activity Sedan, will make its world debut in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Ever since the PAS was announced by the BMW CEO, Herr Norbert Reithofer, I kept wondering which direction is BMW heading towards.
The secrecy around the PAS reached high levels, and no one really knows where that car will fit in BMW’s line up. The car codenamed V5 will have similar design elements as the larger and more impressive X6, but it will come in two configurations: all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive.
The guys at MotorAuthority went even further and ventured to put together some renderings of what the BMW PAS might look like. They also believe that the will have coupe-like characteristics and design elements such as extremely short overhangs, flared fenders and optional 21in wheels.
Do you guys remember the BMW CS Concept? The bimmer concept that created so much hype around it and everyone assumes that all the future BMW models will import design elements from it. Yeah, that’s us also, even though, for example, the 7 Series was one car that did not import elements from the CS and it was actually vice-versa.
Anyway, back in March when the CS Concept was unveiled at the New York Auto Show, many official photos were released, but…no videos of the car being actual driven.
Well, let’s change that, today we came across an Youtube video showing the BMW CS on Villa d’Erba contest 2008. I’m a little pissed that the whoever shot the video managed to screw it by playing with the colors, but hey…beggars can’t be choosers, right?
BMW has announced today that they will be bringing out an M6 Competition Package. There will be a decent amount of performance enhancements, particularly to the suspension. The new ZCP will have an “active-chassis monitoring system” that is meant to monitor the suspension around the road and track and adjust it as it sees fit. The car will also have a lower front and rear axle of 10mm and 12mm. The lower axle height is supposed to aid in the turn-in of the M6 on the track, more so than the street.
A few other things like, a new hood designed only for the M6 ZCP with “character lines” and new double-spoke wheels, rather typical of BMW. Read the rest of this entry »
BMW decided to bring back one of their popular exterior colors: the Le Mans blue will make its way back into the M3 lineup. In the photos released by BMW, a 2009 BMW M3 E92 is sporting the Le Mans blue. I have personally been a huge fan of blue colors on bimmers, but Le Mans was never on top of my list.
If I were to choose my all time favorite blueish exterior paint, I will absolutely go with the Laguna Seca. Here is a photoshop of the M3 Coupe sporting the color:
And now here is the Le Mans blue:
Just a couple of weeks after BMW has released the official photos of the 2009 BMW 3 Series, the M3 Sedan facelift photos were released to the public. The changes are quite small and in pair to the ones found in the 3 Series sedan: new set of taillights and the new improved iDrive system.
It is obviously a light refresh and we won’t get too excited about it, so for those of you that already own an M3 E90 Sedan, don’t worry, you’re not missing much.
